This recipe can also be made in the slow cooker or crockpot (low for 7-8 hours, high for 3-4 hours) but can be made stovetop much faster! I love Corned Beef and Cabbage and especially love making it around St. Patricks Day. And this recipe is delicious! It uses beer instead of water and has few steps or ingredients. Ingredients:
½ stick butter
1 corned beef with spice packet
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 white onion chopped
1 can beer
1 head of cabbage
Directions:
Melt butter in a large Dutch oven over medium/high heat.
Add meat and sprinkle spice packet over the meat.
Add brown sugar.
Add onion.
Add beer.
Cover and bring to full boil. Once boiling lower the heat to low and allow to simmer for 2½ to 3 hours depending on the size of the corned beef.
Add cabbage and cook for another ½ hour until cabbage is soft.
