Ingredients
1 package ground sausage
1 white onion
2-4 garlic cloves sliced
1/2 cup sherry or cooking wine
1 can of pumpkin
1/2 tsp sage
1/2 tsp parsley
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp granulated garlic
1/2 tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup of heavy cream
1 box lasagna noodles
2 cups grated fontina cheese
Cheese filling:
1 container ricotta cheese
1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Parsley
Oregano
1 tbsp of pumpkin
1 egg
- Cook lasagna noodles as instructed on box
- Brown sausage in pan and remove
- In same pan, cook onions and garlic until onions are translucent
- Add sherry and swirl in pan to pick up flavors
- Turn heat down to medium and add pumpkin and spices and mix well
- Add heavy cream and mix into the sauce and turn heat to low
- In a separate bowl, mix together all ingredients for cheese filling
- Assemble lasagna alternating between sauce, noodles, sauce, cheese filling and fontina
- Cover and cook in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes
- Uncover and cook for five more minutes
- Allow lasagna to cool slightly before eating
