One Pot Beef Stroganoff Recipe

5 tbsp of butter
1 large sirloin steak or 2 medium sliced thin
3/4 cup of diced shallots (sub onion if needed)
1 package of mushrooms (blend of cremini and more if available)
Salt and pepper to taste
Pinch of nutmeg
1 garlic clove
1/4 cup of marsala
1 to 1 1/2 cup of sour cream

  1. Season steak with salt and pepper
  2. Put in 1/2 of butter in a skillet and add meat, cooking until desired temperature (about 2-4 minutes on each side)
  3. Remove meat from the skillet
  4. Add shallots to pan and cook for 3-5 minutes, then add mushrooms
  5. Add pepper, salt and nutmeg
  6. Sweat mushrooms until juices release
  7. Add garlic clove grated
  8. Cook for an additional five minutes on medium
  9. Add marsala and swirl through pan
  10. Turn heat to low and stir in sour cream
  11. Add steak back into pan and allow to cook together for 2 minutes without allowing sour cream to bowl
  12. Serve over noodles, mashed potatoes or dumplings
