Split Pea Soup is a yummy way to warm up your winter! This simple crock pot or slow cooker recipe is great for after you cook a ham, but of course can be made without! It’s filling, tasty and good for you too! This recipe can also be made stove top if you don’t have the time to let it simmer all day.

Ingredients:
Ham bone (not necessary)
Two 16 ounce packages of split green peas
1 cup water
2 cups chopped celery
2 cups chopped baby carrots
1 whole chopped yellow onion
Leftover ham or bacon
6 cups of chicken broth (Try the Culinary broth!)
2 Bay leaves
Salt and Pepper

  1. Chop all ingredients and remove excess ham from bone
  2. Add all ingredients to the crock pot and cook on high heat for 4-5 hours
  3. Add additional water if necessary 1/2 cup at a time or additional chicken broth
  4. Serve with crackers or bread, enjoy!

*Additional water or broth may need to be added when reheating as peas suck up water*
